The Early Years
Founded by Carl Jensen, Anchorage Pontoons has grown from over two decades of experience in the marine industry. Our journey began in 1998 with the launch of Superior Jetties & Pontoons Ltd, created to bring new and innovative pontoon solutions to New Zealand.
In 2006, we became the official Australasian agent for Connect-A-Dock USA, expanding our range with high-quality modular systems. Our success in supplying rowing pontoons led to the creation of a dedicated division, Salta Docks & Marine, focused solely on rowing infrastructure.

Today, we design and supply premium floating docks, pontoons, gangways, and modular marine systems throughout New Zealand. While we collaborate with engineering professionals nationwide, we maintain a close long-term partnership with Ocel Offshore & Coastal Engineering Ltd in Christchurch to ensure every project meets strict marine engineering standards.

Carl Jenson
Founder
After nearly a decade of experience in the marina and pontoon industry, Carl Jensen established Anchorage Pontoons Limited in 2007. Throughout his career, Carl has demonstrated a strong commitment to product innovation and excellence in installation.
Carl has led significant advancements in our products by optimising materials, refining standard layouts and designs, and improving installation processes. His dedication is evident in successful installations spanning from the top of the North Island all the way down to Stewart Island (Rakiura), showcasing the reliability and reach of our solutions.
Following the launch of Anchorage Pontoons 2025 Limited, Carl continues to play a vital role within the company. As a trusted and familiar presence, he is dedicated to passing his expertise to the next generation, ensuring the continued growth and success of Anchorage Pontoons.
Chris Strong
Managing Director
With a career spanning 25 years in the aircraft industry, Chris completed his Aircraft Engineering apprenticeship with Air New Zealand, gaining invaluable technical expertise and a deep passion for engineering and product innovation. In addition to his background in complex engineering environments, Chris is the owner of Hibiscus Sheetmetals, a respected fabrication workshop in Silverdale that he has operated since 2016. This hands-on experience in precision fabrication perfectly complements his engineering acumen, enabling him to deliver the highest standards of quality and performance in every pontoon solution we offer.
Gavin Bickers
Director
Drawing on more than 10 years of expertise in marine fabrication, Gavin is a highly skilled tradesman recognised for his work with several of New Zealand’s high-end marine manufacturers. His in-depth knowledge of marine-grade materials and their performance in challenging environments ensures that every product meets the highest standards of quality and durability. Gavin’s commitment to excellence guarantees our marine solutions are built to last.
